What is CIT?
The Technical Information Center (CIT) has the mission of providing access to information about the collapse of Fundão dam and the social and environmental repair process through resources that guarantee the participatory construction of a collection, either in a virtual environment or through physical spaces.
The website citdoriodoce.org provides, in a single location, a collaborative digital collection with all the content gathered by the Technical Information Center, organized through collections. The physical spaces will have exhibition spaces and interaction with the community and will be installed in the Cities of Mariana (MG, Governador Valadares (MG) and Linhares (ES).

Get to know the stories
José do Patrocínio was born in Paracatu de Baixo, Mariana district (MG), but the right year he doesn't even know it. It's been almost 90 years, and 24 children, of a life filled with memories of a happy childhood very close to the nature. The dam rupture in 2015, which hit Paracatu de Baixo in a few hours, put in suspension the greatest joy of Zezinho: lead and play at the Folia de Reis, the most traditional celebration of the region, of which he has been ahead for almost six decades. His instruments went away with the mud, as did the banners of the procession. But that same year, he received something that can only be considered a gift. His son found, totally buried, one of the flags, which curiously was not hit by the tailings.

Socio-territorial diagnosis of the Alto Rio Doce (MG)
“This book presents the analyzes and results of the research work carried out by the PROATER team – Program for Articulation and Strengthening of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension for the Sustainable Development of Municipalities in the Rio Doce Basin in Minas Gerais, linked to the Federal University of Vicious.
It is a rich systematization of characteristics of the rural environment of five municipalities in Minas Gerais affected by the Fundão dam failure: Barra Longa, Mariana, Ponte Nova, Rio Doce and Santa Cruz do Escalvado.
Based on the analyses, socio-productive processes and demographic aspects are revealed, and structuring agendas are built for the establishment of sustainable rural development strategies, with an emphasis on family farming – the predominant segment in the territorial agrarian structure.”
